IT's a nice environment. It's a nice comuunity and there are several projects in the neighboorhood. Individual mostly, bot others too.
The only problem for me is the amount of work. They expexct six hours of work from each other. but maybe there is land in the neighbourhood, but then you'd probably be not part of the community .

Would be a very good candidate if it were not for the work. Oh, and the fact that there actually very few people in the community...tho there are A LOT of people of the same kind and with similar projects in the neighboorhood.

I have had a negative feeling. I don't know where it comes from. Was it from that WEdnesday when Erik didn't answer my good morning and was clearly upset (with me or sómething). OR was it something else? ERik was pretty nice afterwards. Nothing really happened. OR is it me myself and my narcissism or the fact that I cannot often be conscious when talking or communicating? There was something bad here in any case .. Also, I got som nightmares. Terrible nightmares Yes, you're also not liked that much. Althugh they do their best. They don't show it or they are not unnice to me. I can just feel it that they don't really like me deep down, except Erik maybe. But this is the same everywhere. I'm probably just very self aware here. They are not very interested in what I say and stuff like that.. But yeah, it's the story of my life...Som kind of behavior or the way I look or I talk... Now I think it's the way I talk. It probably sound like banal... But there has to be some bias to get what I say as banal....(I mean, hear the same things said by other people, sometimes being appreciated very much, especially attractive people...) Is it a dominant thing, that people just want to be right? That definitly exists here too, in any case! There is that "being right" stuff and not really listening to explanations and argument. Not that it's all that bad and people are not nice, but there is this too and I don't like it. I wonder why...

Experience:

Open armed, warm welcome by a friend of a friend and consecutively by people on the land. Felt like "this is the one" (eco-project to join)
Prejudged, insulted and chased away by one particular person, Vitor. I am not sure if he knows how he talks to people and is unaware of it or really wants to make people feel bad. I am not the only one who has problems with him. Apparently he just wants to shoo away as much people as possible from the project. Unless his buddies (or people with money)??
Though after a while I tried to not let myself keep feeling the enimity, and it went a bit better, but even after that I heard that he also started to be very judgmental and inappropriat on chat because things didn't move fast enough after a meeting with agreed upon action points.
This is a common problem: People not on the land think that everything on the land goes 1, 2, 3 - done. REally strange because even in the capitalistic system, more even in their cities, things don't go that fast, but for the vegan hills they expect everything done the day after..even if any average logical person knows this or that work would take days or even weeks (if a full working week, forgetting that people also come to live differently there, meaning also not working as slaves)
Connect very well with all the people on the land. I've never had so much and good connections in any project before. Maybe as good, but not as good ánd so many at the same time.
Vegans with a heart
A bit of disagreements, but nothing serious
Awfull experience with Vitor, several times after. This guy projects self-issues and hate!
Although not diplomatic and free of insults at all, other people from the land sat down with Vitor to change his mind. As if he is the deciding factor. LAter on, people told me how wrong they were on letting this one guy dictate everything and it became more social decision making again.
Friction between on- and off-land people. Internet chat making it worse. People acting like typical internet trolls, insulting others by lack of diplomacy.
Structural/decision making problems in the association and between the people on the land
Legal problems
Land being a natural reserve suddenly and nobody told me before joining, at the contrary Vitor pressured me to join before the 15th (preset joining finish date, but still)
So, no flexibility, no tolerance from some, especially the ones not on the land
A lot of secrecy. Even on the land, between the people already there. I dunno why, but people kept telling me secrets or at least sensitive info even though I told them I cannot keep secrets. I don't think the secrecy is the problem, because I think people don't want to make a bigger mess and just want to wait the right moment with info, but the fact that this is needed, points to A LOT of work on trust and tolerance to be done.
Members have to keep secrets to the outside, even to member candidates
No transparancy whatsoever. Asking legal documents pisses people of, or at least makes them afraid from angering each other for having done so.
Psychological hiërarchy. ONne dude has a grip on other people though there is no legal power
Great land! Great opportunity.
Great people! A bit unexperienced and a bit "childish", but well
Huge growing pains, hope it will really be that.
Most people on the land are very tolerant and don't go too much into problems and drama. That is really great. This kind of tolerance will make a project succeed. On the other hand, some of them sometimes expect certain things from the others while at the same time they don't care about the expectations for other things from the others to them. This lack of respect for others' wishes while at the same time expecting their own wishes to be respected, is something that really bothers me.
Everyone on the land share and give things (foods, tools, ..) really easily and without a second thoughts. Really wonderfull.
They also help eachother very easily and without question.
Some people even told me that financially weaker shoulders should pay less of certain common costs than the financially stronger. This was music in my ears! (Not that I would be the weaker in this story. Don't read this wrong, please. The concept is the basics of equity*!)
(* equity being better than egality. REad up on it!)
The area is beautiful! VEry quiet.
A couple of windmills in view, but you can't have everything and they áre ecological solutions! (be it not for VH themselves)
There are a lot of free spirit people in the villages and areas around VH. There is even this market every month where things are shared, services offered, sold for a low price or give-what-you-want jars, with camp-fires and nice welcoming social night before that,
Though, like always, there are also the irresponsible I-do-what-I-want hippies*, and as irresponsible typical British often-drunk pensionists escaping the system, but all but improving it or helping it ro make better, or at least keep the status quo. No, they are part of the problem, just wanting to have fun, booze and friends with the same attitude. Complaining about how things are in society today, but because of their frustration and nihilist reaction, being part of the problem.
(I don't use hippy as an insult, I even love certain types of hippies! But not these types.)

Our large garden is situated close to the river and in the heart of the countryside in Andalucia, southern Spain and is about 55 km from Malaga. Together with friends and volunteer workers I like to think of ourselves as nature lovers. Our aim is to create an almost self sufficient garden and together share some ideas and skills about the benefits of raw living foods. We are already growing some organic fruit and vegetables and would like to plant more. We also like to share and learn more together about healthy eating, self reliance and holistic wellbeing. Please note that for now we are an English speaking based project. We hope to learn more of the local language over the next few months and then to invite more volunteers from the local area and other parts of Spain and from Latin America. The land has a small house, space for tents, and a yurt. There are fruit and nut trees and lovely views of the surrounding countryside where the hills are mostly scattered with olive and orange trees. The nearest town or village is a 10 km walk away or you can borrow a bicycle to get there if you wish. In other words, this is the perfect place to get away from it all and back to nature and to live simply. We eat only plant foods and mostly raw food and we invite you to also. In respect for the land and for the other people who come to share this beautiful place we do not accept smokers, the drinking of alcohol or the use of recreational drugs. ****Volunteers with building experience or skills will be especially welcome. Most of our new building work and any repairs are done with sustainable and natural materials where possible**** The minimum stay here is for 2 weeks and usually it will be fine for you to stay for a month or possibly longer. This is so we get the chance to know you and you also have a good opportunity to learn how things work here and can fully appreciate the benefits of living a more simple, off grid and nature based lifestyle.
